Izushi Castle Town, Toyooka

(240+ reviews on the web)
Historic Site
Often called Little Kyoto, Izushi Castle Town draws visitors with its nostalgic atmosphere and Izushi-soba, a specialty of the area containing buckwheat noodles served on small plates. The site features historical buildings from the Meiji Era, including a castle, a clock tower, and an old theater playhouse. The small but well-preserved castle sits on a hill encircled by sakura trees, offering views of the surrounding landscape. Climb the stone staircase farther up the hill to visit a Shinto shrine. Izushi Castle Town is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Toyooka Edition.

  • Study is a large foot or explore the quaint vestiges of the town has left many areas,. Issue cars should be is a convenient access. Toyooka station, 8 deer and Gangwon-do stations and buses will arrive in 30 minutes from about 25 minutes, but differ in status in the holidays and on weekdays so watch out. Also from kinosaki Onsen station is less frequent. Crowded around lunch time on weekends and private car parking in the center of town but pseudo-tag car waiting for parking spaces. I think the car will arrive in early May.

  • So-so around small town is quaint, but also narrow. Near the dish can taste while putting the various condiments, egg, etc. His mirror-ji Temple (sukyouji), and also related to Buddhist priest Takuan (pickled radish), so pickled was born here. Are off-center 10 min walking. Snow fell from the roof of the main hall at the end of March, is still a surprise. Several gardens at 300 yen. A suikinkutsu is not working

  • This is a soba shop called Izushi Castle, not the actual castle ruins. It is at least a 5-10 minutes walk to the ruins from this spot. The soba is good. In the same complex is a sushi shop (yummy and the owner speaks some English) and a bar (friendly owners). Be careful to enter the one you want!
  • It was Soba. Unusual dishes near the Osoba one prize amount? 5 dishes. I was asking for additional. In unique ways of eating, 1 plate in green onion and horseradish, 2 dish is kaki混zezu too much egg add Yam dish 3 or later. Each was delicious. I can tweak the beer menu, such as tempura and halfbeak dried overnight and to people who aren't near a ~.

  • Buckwheat noodle dish is the best. Many dishes are ikecha. Dashi and Soba are delicious!
