Genbudo Park, Toyooka

#2 of 13 in Parks in Toyooka
Nature / Park
Observe the bizarre polygonal geological formations at Genbudo Park. Dating back about 1.6 million years, the configuration is the result of a volcanic process known as columnar jointing, in which cooling molten rock forms prismatic columns, sometimes 30 m (98 ft) long. Be sure to bring along your camera and capture this rare and mysterious occurrence. Use our Toyooka vacation builder to arrange your visit to Genbudo Park and other attractions in Toyooka.

Where to stay in Toyooka

Toyooka boasts a huge variety of ryokans, or traditional Japanese bed and breakfasts--most cluster in the Kinosaki district, famous for its many hot spring resorts, while hotels usually lie a bit farther away from town. Staying at a traditional ryokan, you will most likely be able to enjoy a home-cooked breakfast and dinner, while some establishments offer a room without meals at a reduced price.
