Angel Road, Tonosho-cho

3.9
#1 of 16 in Things to do in Tonosho-cho
When tides go out, the pristine clean sand of Angel Road creates a narrow path to three small islands of Shodoshima. Twice a day, when the tides are low and the sandbar emerges, visitors come to enjoy mesmerizing vistas across the ocean and lush islands. See small crabs wiggling through the interesting sand formations, and write a wish on small wooden plaque (ema), which you can hang on a branch for fulfillment. Legend has it that couples who walk along the road hand in hand will have happiness together. Check tide times before going. • It's kind of small for sightseeing area. But for girl with higher heels, it's good enough size to see it. I saw wild tiny crab and they are so pretty cute!  more »

  • just a tombolo but the scenery changes every minute. simply serene to look at. couples will love their "locks" spot under the "wishing tree"...
  • Okay to see but doesn't worth the trip to island if you just come for the Angel road
  • One of the most amazing places you will ever visit! You can literally walk out to three seperate and distinct islands, though if you make it all the way out to the third island don't spend too much time like we did, we almost didn't get back without having to swim!!
  • Scenic location where the sand bar disappears às the tide rises. Make sure you come at low tide to take many photos and walk the beautiful area
  • Very scenic walk, amazing views. Worth the visit.
