Tama River, Tokyo Prefecture

4.1
The Tama River is a major river in Yamanashi, Kanagawa and Tokyo Prefectures on Honshū, Japan. It is officially classified as a Class 1 river by the Japanese government. Its total length is 138km, and the total of the river's basin area spans 1,240km2.The river flows through Tokyo, on the dividing line between Tokyo and Kanagawa. In the city, its banks are lined with parks and sports fields, making the river a popular picnic spot.CourseIts source is located at Mt. Kasadori in Koshu in Yamanashi Prefecture. From there, it flows eastward into mountainous western Tokyo, where the Ogōchi Dam forms Lake Okutama. Below the dam, it takes the name Tama and flows eastwards through Chichibu Tama Kai National Park towards Ōme, Tokyo. It then flows southeast between Tama Hills and Musashino Terrace. At Hamura is the source of the historic Tamagawa Aqueduct built by the Tamagawa brothers in 1653 to supply water to Edo (present day Tokyo). Further downstream, the river forms the boundary between Tokyo and the city of Kawasaki in Kanagawa Prefecture. Its mouth on the heavily industrialised Tokyo Bay is next to Haneda Airport.

  • Walk to reach kamata Kawasaki is a familiar by train passing over the River, but had time leftover half-way and tried to cross. On the road, there is a moment on the train, and it took. But it was sunny, the wind is sighing, feel-good walking.

  • It is a river flowing in large and abundant water. Know when Kawasaki station near the hotel, map of the station and, surprisingly close to the TAMA River, morning walk I went partly. There are people who walk dogs and joggers along the river and laid back healed.

  • River is I don't think particularly in the catchment area and length Japan's finest is not reputation. Is it in the TAMA River. In terms of well flow Tokyo still famous? I think that the odor is no longer, as in the Tama area compared to the old good water quality. Not in this river's BBQ in the old days-and it was. Floated like a soap bubble at all times, a lop wastewater flow from the staff. See here 10 years went to developed countries in Japan's real meaning as I. Tama-CHAN would seal it was famous, but he has gone nowhere, and.
