Seibu Dome, Tokorozawa
(3.6/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Seibu Dome is stadium located in Tokorozawa, Saitama, Japan. It is the home field of the Saitama Seibu Lions professional baseball team. The stadium has a roof over the field and the stands, like other indoor ballparks. However, it lacks a wall behind the stands so that natural air comes into the field. This makes it possible for home runs to leave the stadium, something not possible in typical domed stadiums. The stadium was built in 1979 without the roof and named Seibu Lions Stadium as the new home field of the Lions that moved from Fukuoka to Tokorozawa that year. The installation of the roof took place in two phases: the first phase after the 1997 season, and the second phase after the 1998 seasons. At the beginning of the 1998 season, the stadium was renamed Seibu Dome although the domed roof had not completed yet.On March 1, 2005, the stadium was named Invoice Seibu Dome as Invoice Inc. bought the naming rights of the stadium for the next two seasons. Upon expiration of the previous contract, on January 1, 2007, the name was changed again to Goodwill Dome to reflect the sponsorship of Goodwill Group, Inc. The naming rights contract with Goodwill was intended to remain in effect for five years.Although Seibu Dome was still the official name of the stadium, the stadium and media used the sponsored name almost exclusively during this period. However, at the end of 2007, as both the stadium and minor team naming right of Goodwill were seized due to Goodwill's illegal business movements, the Dome's name was restored to Seibu Dome in 2008.

  • Cold spring and summer is too hot environment-friendly ballpark. Will feel old good League Stadium in the outfield grass and good sense.

  • For our Lions is the Holy land. Cold weather becomes heatstroke is extremely cold and hot. Is such a harsh place, but still, this is love! Fan of (11/23) morning. Windy and cold. The guys go skiing like externals. Saitama enough good in the externals of the Tohoku region. Where trees have in abundance, so spring is from Cherry spring and fall foliage spots also. In the ballpark and could see the green from the space between the roof and the outfield a little healing. Summer clothes T shirts, cool time go go if Cairo is useful. Environment is tough, but I want to go again! By the way GW around the azalea station is beautiful.

  • You can enjoy because this dome roof with walls without a seated position in the spring, cherry blossoms and bright green leaves. Also, around a table with various seating types and separated as a private group table, you can relax. If baseball wants to cheer on the right grass outfield seats are recommended. You can lie down when unoccupied.

  • It's a baseball park... But a nice one. Easy to get to, reasonably well organized. Good food. A bit pricey, but... It's a baseball park..
  • Baseball park yes, but the also host events here. International Rose Festival...? Been here once.
  • Lots of japanese stadium food vendors: kfc, bento, ramen, and more. At baseball games, the beer girls carry kegs in backpacks to refill your drinks while you sit.
  • the mixture of nature and stadium very relaxing atmosphere especially spring and early summer. only negative side is ite bad reputation of summer humidity and hot temperature .
  • Not only for baseball that this dome is famous,It is also used for concerts & any events too. This April w/the permission of this Dome,Im going to do a LIVE event by Google Plus or G+ through Hangouts on Air,an international broadcast using wifi & tablet to see the world what kind of baseball games we have here in Japan..The teams that I will be watching is bt Seibu Lions vs.Chiba Lotte Marines this April.Hope everybody can watch that by You Tube through +Live Photowalkers worldwide & from countries around the world will watch this. Also ,US minor & major leaguues are aware of this event & even for some sport channels too.So if you have time, please to watch or go to this dome to witness the game. +candyjaviersakai/Google Plus/G+ +Live Photowalkers Worldwide/HOST/Founder/CEO +Virtual Photowalkers in Tokyo/Founder/CEO
