The Awa Shrine is a Shinto shrine in the city of Tateyama in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. It is one of two shrines claiming to hold the title of ichinomiya of former Awa Province. The main festival of the shrine is held annually on August 10.Enshrined ''kami''The primary kami of Awa Jinja is the Ame-no-Futodama-no-mikoto.Secondary enshrined kami include: Ame-no-hiritome-no-mikotoKushiakarutama-no-mikotoAme-nohiwashi-no-mikotoTaokihooi-no-mikotoHikosashiri-no-mikotoAme-no-mahitotsu-no-mikotoAme-no-tomi-no-mikotoAme-no-oshihi-no-mikoto There are also numerous small subsidiary shrines to various kami within the shrine grounds.HistoryThe date of Awa Shrine’s foundation is unknown. Shrine tradition and the Kogo Shūi records of 807 AD gives the founder as a member of the Inbe clan, (the precursors to the Nakatomi clan) during the reign of the legendary Emperor Jimmu. The shrine is mentioned several times in the early Heian period Rikkokushi and it is mentioned again in the Engishiki records.It has been styled as the ichinomiya of Awa Province since at least the end of the Heian period, and enjoyed the patronage of the Satomi clan, and subsequently the Tokugawa shogunate until the end of the Edo period.

  • One of the most holy place in east Japan, I think. Please visit here and feel this spiritual power. It will be wonderful experience.  more »
  • It is a large evokes the history depth I heard deep rim with the Kuroshio flow Kinki boso peninsula and shrine. Rustic scenic houses and farms are near, but suddenly imposing pomp and circumstance that company will appear. Visiting time is at the end of the spring cherry blossoms were still clean.

  • Is a Shinto shrine located in Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture is. Has become the province of Awa and highest undercounting in the region (former country) Ichinomiya. To visit when mind is lost or when you want to find the way forward and said. Also as luck a powerful power spot in popularity has been as one of the three great luck shrine Japan.

  • ☆ Awa country Ichinomiya. Awa Jinja (awajinnja) located in Daijingu, Tateyama-Shi to visit. Shingo Valley Mountain (adzuchiyama) at the great shrine. White big no. 1 gate and gravel Causeway. The young cherry trees. At the end of the tree-lined to the right bathroom, left in the warehouse. Approach to it. To the right azuchiō teahouses, Hokusai Museum and back to the method: under the Palace. Stone steps turn up left at the white gate. A simple shrine enshrines CoEvolution lives. Sakura Maki, Ginkgo, Japanese apricot, hardwood trees forest's environment. Back to this approach. Soothing Aqua colored roof left office. White No. 2 gate and gravel Causeway. Left and right to talismans awarded, in the great Hall. Museum of history and smoking in the back making a fire. Turn right at the approach to the right historical Board, visit coming up. Monument of nichiro war standing on boulders on the left, Itsukushima-Jinja shrine, War Memorial and Navy parachute commando memorial monument. Up the stairs, the massive shrine of blue black roof. DW left big Ginkgo tree and landscape of Ise Jingu Shrine worshiping from afar. Building DW right sacred lot awarding Office, main and connecting. Black tile roofs white storehouse, at the end: Kotohira, concurrent's oratory.

  • Have had time off to visit would be spectacular if the peak cherry blossom trees are welcomed. While we write the nokyo-sho ' visits to calm air was clear and is very nice. Cherry Blossom photos of cherry blossoms in full bloom was on the trees at the entrance and small sweets, stop, green tea and sweets shop. It can be very fulfilling.

  • I went to the Awa Jinja. Headquarters are surrounded green shrine and behind your mirror looks very good and is a welcome antidote. Mountain Sun to come and also changes the atmosphere. Our Maki, the sacred tree is good. Delicious tea house located at the shrine entrance.
