#1 of 17 in Nature in Yaeyama-gun
Visit Iriomote Island, a jungle-covered island popular with nature lovers. The population of Okinawa's second-largest island remains relatively small, with just 2,000 permanent inhabitants and nearly 90 percent of the landmass covered in thick, lush jungle and mangrove forests. Attracting outdoor adventurers and nature enthusiasts, the habitats onshore and off support a varied population of animals, including the Iriomote Yamaneko (a wildcat only found on the island), and manta rays swimming around the coral reef. Take a diving trip with one of the many established tour operators, or kayak down the rivers of the island's interior. • 3 nights 4 days as I went for the first time in Iriomote Island. Iriomote Island, Ishigaki Island go by high speed boat. From Ishigaki Island is convenient non-stop flights from Haneda Airport. To 4 hours return is about three hours. No food, drinks only. Prior to meals or snacks is necessary. Ishigaki Island Airport via a direct bus to the Terminal. Twice an hour, one way, 40 minutes, 900 yen. Ishigaki Island Terminal from Uehara port until about 50 minutes by high speed boat. Winter is often canceled. At that time went to Ohara port, free shuttle bus to the Uehara port. All the hotel's villas Iriomote. Half-board. Food is so-so. Orion beer was delicious. Is the apartment was great. Clean and comfortable. Self-catering facilities, but close to the Super and can buy things, such as fast food. Next time I think also the room. Second day joined the pinaisara waterfall and canoe one day course. The best views of the falls, death, just ago climbing the steep 1 hour. Lunch menu in the Takinoue is also satisfied. Canoe as leaders do it, easy and secure. Not a toilet. Hidden women when she insists, was in the jungle. Ohara port near the epicenter of magnitude 5 earthquake, was taken aback. By the third day snorkeling tour was discontinued. Instead, drive rental car around the island. Comfortable, uncrowded roads. There were hordes of crab flats. In the evening, were near the well could snorkel at the beach. An hour long, are satisfied.
