Hoshisuna Beach, Taketomicho Iriomote-jima

3.4
#3 of 15 in Parks in Taketomicho Iriomote-jima
Famous for its sands made of billions of tiny dead starfish, Hoshisuna Beach features a number of reefs and curious offshore rock formations covered with greener. Forming a half-closed bay with a micro climate, the beach offers good swimming and snorkeling opportunities. You can walk in the shallows and puddles during low tide, or rent snorkeling equipment at a facility right across the beach and wait for high tide. Huge differences in tide leave large pools filled with vivid marine life. You can dine in a nice restaurant nearby and the beach, some 10-15 minutes by car from Uehara, has toilet facilities. Went back to the original Highway, passing first went by car. Head toward the Sands Hotel. Please note that parking side toilet is available. Beach is beautiful sandy beaches, the sea. Are relatively empty. Maybe you can also go snorkeling. Star sand is now so don't. Hmm, maybe without too much surely.

Today, almost didn't think that produces small shell shaped ★ star became famous. About 10 souvenir shop near the stairs down from the parking lot was selling bottled star sand, lined come taken from hatoma Islands thing. Had the bargaining has been buying a lot at the store in this one rare shellfish, is blowing out, the more it comic like. Tourists reach the coast beautiful and there are many small islands, but with water in between them was impressive. Many blue tropical fish swimming over one of the Islands, and was. Is worth a visit even without star sand.
