Shinhotaka Ropeway, Takayama

4.3
On the hillside of Japan's third-tallest mountain, Shinhotaka Ropeway lets you observe remarkable natural scenery from a double-decker gondola. Opened in 1970, the ropeway heads up mighty Mount Hotaka to an altitude of 2,156 m (7,073 ft) above sea level. As you reach the chilly observation deck at the top, you can take in a spectacular panoramic view of the Northern Japan Alps. Admire the natural scenery of the season, whether lush green, golden yellow, or blindingly white. Because of the altitude, always bring something warm to wear. • If you know the Alps or the Pyrenees you will be probably disappointed. But it's what is best as a mountain landscape to the Japan. Avoid weekend and holiday, the tails are hellish.

  • In the autumn and a refreshing autumn sky, did a lot of tourists. Mountains have little snow, majestic views and very nice. And aboard a double-decker gondolas from the No. 2 ropeway, went to the mountaintop. I had a great time

  • Pan ping ropeway transfer station, here was better than you think. Many people from parking next to the hotel Hotaka ropeway ride the train in a flat pan, prospects with direct and bounce and it is recommended that tends to take take the time at the wok station. Hot spring baths here is pretty good. Yunohana floating in water reek of sulfur odor, rolled. Bath was the best. I don't think interesting visitor center, is a modest building and outdoor are small but hot water is good. Locker with key safe in the room. Ropeway descending mouth bakery, Danish 1 the price is high, but this was really delicious. Enough to eat at the restaurant belly if not this bakery I will place. Building veranda, smoking is. Since there is a number which does not sound idiomatic, maple, in young trees of pot, but this is a fun 10 years 5 years. The dog will not bored even my puppy. If you come by car, parking is also pretty widely felt passenger ropeway is best here. Just from the Pan flat parking RW building stairs is inevitable and hard on people with disabilities in the thighs may not be. Detour is unknown. It is possible from shinhodaka-Onsen station in wheelchair go to the Observatory. Actually several lookouts was a dude in a wheelchair.

Where to stay in Takayama

Look along the banks of the river running north-south through Takayama for arguably the town's best accommodations. Traditional ryokan (guesthouses) with onsite onsen (traditional Japanese spas) occupy scenic positions across this central area, displaying fine carpentry skills of the locals and the distinctive architectural style they developed over the years. West of this area, you'll find a number of basic ryokan, with a decent selection of side-street hostels and standard hotels around the train station.
