Landmark Tourist Spot
Counted among the most iconic Buddha statues in Japan, Takaoka Daibutsu Buddha stands almost 16 m (52 ft) tall and dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. At the nearby shrine, you can see the wooden head of a much older Buddha sculpture, which stood there for centuries before burning down in a great fire. Located near the center of town, the current bronze statue makes an ideal backdrop for a few quick photographs.
