Takamatsu Castle, Takamatsu

(2.9/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web)
Step back in time in the heart of the city at Takamatsu Castle, one of Japan's three "castles on the sea." Admire the moats that give the castle its categorization, filled by drawing in seawater using the tides and sluice gates. Though most of the complex was destroyed during the Meiji period, reconstruction is underway. View the two original towers still standing, along with the moat and the walls. Afterwards, sit and relax in the castle's stone garden among cherry and pine trees. Plan to visit Takamatsu Castle during your Takamatsu vacation using our convenient Takamatsu vacation builder.

  • Unlike the neighboring prefectures, Matsuyama and donjon it seems some feel lonely though remained only Takamatsu's past movies, where you can see the gardens and houses, watchtowers are still watching. A good place to wander slowly and meditation!

  • Right near the Takamatsu port, you can visit the ruins of Takamatsu castle which was the stronghold of the Matsudaira clan. There's not much left now except for some walls (which are being rebuilt), t...  more »
