4.2/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web
A quaint neighborhood in the sprawling metropolis of Tokyo, Yanaka features meandering alleys, small stores, and a vast traditional cemetery. A visit to this area allows you to discover the capital off the beaten track, as few tourists ever make it this far east. Follow cherry blossom-lined streets to the Yanaka ginza shopping street, full of traditional arts suppliers selling pigments and brushes, as well as unique artisan souvenirs. • Great little neighborhood living and traditional. It changes the modern great neighborhoods with lots of buildings. Here, it's pretty houses, temples, small cemeteries. The ride was worth it!

  • We took a stroll through the neighborhood of Yanaka (from Nippori Station) and we loved the atmosphere as calm and relaxed neighborhood, so different from each other that we had visited. You start by the cemetery (very integrated in the district, part of usual promenade of premises) to Tenno-ji Temple, a marvel of spirituality. There you can take a map of the area that makes you the points to visit (I recommend not to follow the promenade which proposes the lonely planet Guide, you lose almost all nice!). You end up in Ueno Park, where you can have a drink on a terrace and walk if you have the strength.

  • But often incomplete Temple in downtown residential area. An idiot to sightseeing and tourists, many visitors to the restaurants and souvenir shops like.
