Kitchen Town (Kappabashi), Taito

(4.1/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Witness the behind-the-scenes aspect of Japanese restaurant business at Kitchen Town (Kappabashi), a busy street packed with shops hawking a huge range of dining-related wares. A tourist attraction in itself, the street bursts with colorful storefronts selling paper lanterns, plastic display food, cookware, and just about any other restaurant supply you can name. Stroll down the street and admire the wide selection of gear on sale, but keep in mind that you won't actually find food itself here. Don't forget to bring your camera to snap a photo of a giant statue of a chef's head, which stands above the street's southern entrance. • A street dedicated to kitchen and restaurant equipment. Various small shops son sells kitchenware, porcelain, kockkläder etc. Fun to see and plenty to choose from. Many shops sell the same (or at least similar) things, so it gets a bit monotonous over time. Please note that shops are closed on Sunday and closes at 18 o'clock other days.

  • Such a great idea to have lots of similar items for sale in one area. I'm very happy with the knives I purchased here - even had one engraved with my name .  more »
  • City with all eating and drinking paraphernalia, is food and sushi-NetA key holder and enjoy as a tourist.
