(4.2/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Ride along Usuzan Ropeway, taking in far-reaching views from the surrounding countryside to the smoldering peaks of Mt. Usu. Once at the top, you can observe steaming vents and the Pacific beyond at the crater basin observation deck, less than ten minutes on foot from the gondola station. Feast your eyes on the huge crater (formed in 1977 during the third of four eruptions that century), as it bellows great plumes of steam. • This area is a frequent tourist stop, however, we were fortunate to visit it with only one tourist bus present. The tram operates at intervals of 10-15 mins, depending on amount of tickets purchased. ...  more »
  • Great view and circular since the Lake Toya to the Pacific ocean. At the top station of the cable car (short 7 min ride), you will see the Toya Lake of volcanic origin as the island, which is there and a bit more on the right a small mountain with some fumaroles which dates from 1943, and overlooks the parking lot where your vehicle is parked downstairs. In the distance, a spectacle that will a volcano hidden in part by Mount Usu (Mount Yotei, really beautiful with the snow) to the ocean on the other side. Finally, if you have the courage, a walk of 10 minutes on a paved trail will allow you up a little higher, to go see below on the other side of Mt Usu a little crater smoking. Staff is friendly as always to the Japan. This show is worth the kilometers and time spent here (not very far, visible highway from above). Possible and correct on-site catering. Price to see it all: about 12 euros per person, free parking with "steaming" mountain as first show off the vehicle.

  • Showa shinzan visited for the first time, so riding, parted from the Summit of Mt. Usu on the top of Mt. Showa shinzan and want tickets purchased. Here too some people were Asian powerhouse. While the ropeway is almost alien. I recently buy bakugan from sightseeing tour is!
