Nihondaira Zoo, Shizuoka
(4.4/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Located on the hill, Nihondaira Zoo offers a great opportunity to spend a fun, relaxing day with the family. The zoo has two sections: the indoor area, with turtles and penguins, and the outdoor part, with larger animals, such as bears and elephants. Still in the process of redevelopment, as it’s one of the oldest zoos in the area, and not very large, the zoo has knowledgeable staff who take good care of the animals. You can take the kids to see and pet farm animals, such as chickens and bunnies, at the petting zoo.
