Nihondaira Zoo, Shizuoka

4.3
#2 of 19 in Parks in Shizuoka
Located on the hill, Nihondaira Zoo offers a great opportunity to spend a fun, relaxing day with the family. The zoo has two sections: the indoor area, with turtles and penguins, and the outdoor part, with larger animals, such as bears and elephants. Still in the process of redevelopment, as it’s one of the oldest zoos in the area, and not very large, the zoo has knowledgeable staff who take good care of the animals. You can take the kids to see and pet farm animals, such as chickens and bunnies, at the petting zoo. Make Nihondaira Zoo a part of your Shizuoka vacation plans using our Shizuoka route maker tool .

  • Has long since made the beast House 299 (from paws? ) Is very nice. My best is a polar bear! It is advisable to get there early because parking is crowded, go in the evening.

  • While pushing a stroller around is just a good size. Children also enjoyed. There were many children on a school trip.

  • Way better! But you cannot compare asahiyama becomes a topic well, but I've not really exhibit how is good at. So even with admission 600 Yen! You seem think that average as the Zoo is more than I could pay. Polar bear silly sometimes, Pumas and tigers closer is the best.

  • Amazing place to spend whole day. Endangered species are well cared for and breeding activities are also incorporated to some extend. I just love the place.
  • A nice small zoo - I say it's especially good for kids. It's well kept up, with a friendly staff and volunteers. The exhibits were a mix between some older, and some very modern. Perhaps they're phasing out some of the animals, as they and their exhibits seemed old- the elephants, for example. Overall, I enjoyed my visit.
  • Compact, but there are many rare small animal. You can enjoy here.
  • Great for family outing with young kids
  • We will come back again!!

The main set of accommodations in Shizuoka concentrates around the central train station. With some high-rise business hotels, traditional ryokans, and hostels to choose from, this conveniently located district offers options to suit a smorgasbord of tastes and budgets.
