Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, Shizuoka

4.2
Pay a visit to the historic, spiritual, and strikingly ornamental Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, a Shinto shrine located on a mountain. Particularly well known as the burial place of the first Shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate--the last feudal Japanese military government--the shrine was founded in 1617. The main hall and area for offerings represent two of the most notable structures of the shrine, designated National Important Cultural Properties by the Japanese government. They feature ornate wood carvings, painted patterns over black lacquer, and gold leaf showing the colorful and vibrant style of the late Momoyama period. • Using rope way is still not accessible kunouzan Toshogu Shrine, stairs are steep, so little is the hard part. Renovation work is underway, but is a shrine built on the top of the mountain at a height of because there are inevitable. Bloom, cherry plum, early-flowering from late February, served until the beginning of April. It seems shooting gate with weeping cherry tree is clean. Official visits to and from the gate in front of the entrance.

  • Aerial tramway route from Japan, but I went on the walking route from the coast near! Climbing is fine for me, think it will take about 40-50 minutes until the Tosho-gu shrine. Toshogu Shrine entrance fee is 500 yen. Around the parking lot fee is 500 yen.

Small size compared with kunouzan Toshogu Shrine, Nikko Toshogu Shrine is the honden and haiden is specified as a national treasure. Gorgeous gorgeous sculptures and fittings is flashy in gold.
