Shirahama Beach, Shirahama-cho

#1 of 69 in Beaches in Kinki
Marina Beach
With snow-white sands imported from Australia and two of the oldest hot springs in Japan, Shirahama Beach remains a major attraction in a popular seaside resort. The town began importing sand from Australia in 1989, as the area's coastline began to erode. Today, you can take a stroll along 640 m (2,099 ft) of sweeping soft sand, stopping at two hot springs. The beach can get very busy, so arrive early to get a good spot. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Shirahama-cho holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Shirahama Beach and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Crowded beach, a facet of the Japan you can not imagine. People give up on the beach, smoke and throw their megos, accumulation of litter, people shoving supermarket... If you want to see the beach.

  • Shirarahama Beach beaches many times visited. More mobile toilets, etc for those who come by car from afar before we got here and highway (Yuasa-gobo road) congestion spots are places to arrive with Shirahama in Osaka service area so just in case might be better. I think people quite a bit of the summer vacation season is coming, so parking is tough. It is surely confirmed in advance so even if staying in nearby hotels, car storage system is different. If you spend on the beach umbrellas, Sun shinogemasenn. Because the Sun moves will become meaningless. You'd better use pop-up tents, if possible with a mesh screen shade, shade. In tent-style does not come off inside become hot, so caution is required. People are sucking pretty announced that non-smoking is on the beach. And more people clean water can be muddy in the sand. It is not time to leave before getting back in the car for the season, high speed roads to traffic jam quite so think.

  • Yet before the open sea beaches. Was still less bathers, parking + locker, locker room and shower were also not open, and open some Beach House, parking, etc., have dispatched firefighters and police, swimming was fine. Still chilly, kid's pool ago gradually wean water while watering. In longer but I wanted to, because of the cold weather season is in the midst had not. Anyway put to sea a beautiful nearby, and knowing the crowded with... immediately into the Sea also want to go....

  • cute onsen town. The sand is imported from Australia but nonetheless beautiful. You can walk down the street and soak your feet before dinner.
  • I liked it here a lot. It is easy to get there by train and yhere are just a few tourists there currently.
  • Gorgeous white sand and unforgettable sunsets! Absolutely idyllic!
  • Lazy town with amazing soft sand beach and sea breezes. A place to unwind and relax.
  • Best beach in the Kansai area; just a few hours by bus from Osaka/Kyoto and you're transported to a tropical climate with clear blue water and white sand. Enjoy the beach in the afternoon, walk over and see the sights/sunset at Senjojiki/Sandanbeki or Engetsuto island. Finish off the night chilling on the beach playing with fireworks. Check the weather/waves before you go though; they get pretty powerful and they will prevent people from entering the water as a result. To be fair, they do have a valid point - we snuck off to another beach and entered the water only to realize that the rip currents were really dangerous.

Due to crowds in the summer period (especially July and August), plan to make advanced reservations if visiting then. Hotels line the main beach, ranging from deluxe to mid-range.
