(4.4/5 based on 4,400+ reviews on the web)
Catch sweeping views of the city from one of the two public observation decks at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Completed in 1990, the postmodern building designed by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange references a Gothic cathedral. Inside, the governing bodies for the entire Tokyo metropolitan area have their headquarters. At 202 m (663 ft), the building's observation decks each contain a cafe and souvenir shop. One of them stays open late, providing glittering views of the skyline on clear nights. • We went up the the North tower at about 9 o'clock at night. The entry was free and you can get an elevator up to the top. At the top there are vending machines and a little shop. The views from the to...  more »
  • Despite the rain, the observation deck in the clouds had disappeared and the views over Tokyo terrific. Elevators drive fast on the 43rd floor and probably due to the rain, there was no queue.

  • Found the North tower observatory with great difficulty. At night it's actually hard to see the view outside, because of the lights from the the stalls that sell crap inside reflects in the glass. At ...  more »

  • Top atraction, top view and for free. Free wifi and if you are lucky you can see Fujy Mount!
  • 6pm visit, North Tower... With no que and only 55 seconds to the 45th floor it's worth 30 minutes of time to check out Tokyo's skyline at night. Oh and freeeee...
  • The plebs are only allowed up to the 45th floor, but the view is dope. Do it at any time of day. I'd also recommend taking a picture of all the pedestrians down below, sadistically crushing them between your thumb and index finger. A maniacal chuckle helps. So this is how Godzilla must have felt!
  • A free high rise view of tokyo. A must see for any visiting traveler. On a good day you will be able to see Mt Fuji in the distance. There is a nice cafe and lots of touristy info to look at. There can be a bit of a line, but it moves pretty quickly.
  • Excellent veiw of tokyo from the top foor. IT TOTALLY FREE! Went up the right tower, but the view for mnt Fuji probably better in the left one. (They change each tower every other day) if your in Shinjuku it a must ^_^
