3.7/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web
Anyone with an interest in architecture will enjoy a trip to the top of Shinjuku Mitsui Building. Step into the one-time fastest elevators in the world, which travel at 540 m (1,771 ft) per minute as they whisk you to the free observation platform and sky lounge restaurants that wait at the summit. At 210.3 m (690 ft) tall, it was the tallest building in the city until 1974, when it was surpassed. Take note of the building's unusual floor plan; built in a triangluar shape with its corners cut off, each of its sides reveal a different view of the city (with the obervatory and restaurants on each side). You'll also notice that the building's triangular atrium extends the full height of the building, creating an impressive sight. Make Shinjuku Mitsui Building a centerpiece of your Tokyo vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Tokyo trip itinerary maker.
