Shinjuku Mitsui Building, Shinjuku
(3.5/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Anyone with an interest in architecture will enjoy a trip to the top of Shinjuku Mitsui Building. Step into the one-time fastest elevators in the world, which travel at 540 m (1,771 ft) per minute as they whisk you to the free observation platform and sky lounge restaurants that wait at the summit. At 210.3 m (690 ft) tall, it was the tallest building in the city until 1974, when it was surpassed. Take note of the building's unusual floor plan; built in a triangluar shape with its corners cut off, each of its sides reveal a different view of the city (with the obervatory and restaurants on each side). You'll also notice that the building's triangular atrium extends the full height of the building, creating an impressive sight. Make Shinjuku Mitsui Building a centerpiece of your Tokyo vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Tokyo trip itinerary maker.

  • 1 painting around the Shinjuku Sumitomo building construction, occupancy was covered with fencing. Lights festooned the fence and was beautiful. While on the first floor in front of the main exit small staff is illuminated. Guests will already be decorated Christmas tree, Christmas was.

  • The landscape seen from the top, old and nicknamed the triangle building in the hollow eyes are dazzling. Well I went on a date. Restaurant city is in a good mood.

  • I can't remember exactly what was does a few floor Sumitomo building observation deck is free of charge. Tokyo Metropolitan Government building observation deck if you are part of the civil buildings, each with a sense of openness is better.

  • Decent selection of restaurants in the basement area. Gets a little busy on weekdays but good on Saturday lunchtime.
  • Decent office tower, has a good selection of restaurants on the lower level if you just head outside there.
  • Good view and it was free to go to the top if I remember correctly
  • Good restaurants in the basement out of shinjuku crowd
  • Nice restaurants at the top
