Where to stay in Tokyo

Tokyo abounds with excellent places to stay, from luxury affairs to humble budget-friendly lodgings. Its glittering skyscrapers house numerous international four- and five-star hotels, both in the populous cultural hotspots of Shinjuku and in the business centers of Akasaka and Shinbashi. Meanwhile, hostels catering to the shoestring traveler lie scattered throughout the city. For a memorable, distinctly Japanese experience, seek out a ryokan, a traditional bed and breakfast with tatami floor mats and sliding screen doors.

  • Shinjuku Marui Honkan is just diagonally across from Isetan. I popped in since it was close-by, but once I stepped in, I was reminded of the Marui in Kyoto. They have cute and pretty things, but I wal...  more »

  • Mall at 2 subway stations of the Hakihabara area, go eat at the top. On the six present, I chose (of course) the restaurant to sushi and sashimi... very fresh, hearty, a treat. Attentive service as in most part of restaurants in the Japan. You have the opportunity to dine at the bar or at a table...

  • Well established location and department store. Lots of nice shops for food as well
  • Great fun, find GothicLolita fashion and anime stuff here.
  • We got lost in a very very weird/adult street. It was an interesting experience because I was shocked at the amount host clubs. It felt like there was 100s of clubs there..
  • I have a little preference for the Marui in Yurakucho however this is also a nice mall. Several shops and some restaurants as well.
  • Not ashamed to say that I've gone in here plenty of times while I lived here simply for its bathrooms on the 8th floor. Not even Isetan's bathrooms across the street are as luxurious as the ones here, lol. Huge stalls with a private sink (menstrual cup, anyone?), plus the stationary shop (on the 6th fl) is a great stop & the bakery on the floor lvl has Tokyo's best baguettes.
