4.3
#12 of 254 in Parks in Tokyo
Nature / Park
Broad boulevards lined with ginkgo trees and fountains link a series of popular attractions at Meiji Jingu Gaien, a park and outer precinct of the Meiji Jingu Shrine. Opened in 1926, the park is home to extensive sports facilities, the historic Jingu Stadium, the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery, and, of course, the much-visited shrine. Take your pick of activities, from tennis and baseball, to golfing and ice-skating. Traditional Nagasaki-style champon and other noodle dishes are served at the park's restaurant. Where to stay in Tokyo

Tokyo abounds with excellent places to stay, from luxury affairs to humble budget-friendly lodgings. Its glittering skyscrapers house numerous international four- and five-star hotels, both in the populous cultural hotspots of Shinjuku and in the business centers of Akasaka and Shinbashi. Meanwhile, hostels catering to the shoestring traveler lie scattered throughout the city. For a memorable, distinctly Japanese experience, seek out a ryokan, a traditional bed and breakfast with tatami floor mats and sliding screen doors.
