Godzilla Head, Shinjuku

3.4
#102 of 3,864 in Things to do in Tokyo
Peeking out of the eighth floor of a hotel terrace and looking down on a busy street some 40 m (130 ft) below, Godzilla Head makes a popular sight in Shinjuku. The giant 12 m (39 ft) tall reptillian head breaks out of the open terrace, with a roaring sound and tremor which you can experience on the ground floor if you come at the right time. Although only hotel or restaurant guests are allowed to see the attraction from up close, you can come in for a coffee to get a great view of the monster's head. Well-lit at night, the head gives off a laser beam show that can be seen from far away. You can plan Tokyo trip in no time by asking Inspirock to help create your itinerary.

  • Godzilla heads at the entrance of the Kabuki-Cho Shinjuku Station and looks onto the building's head. You can look at your doorstep and climb up in the lobby of the hotel gracery is surprisingly not known, Kabuki-Cho is Shinjuku (guests only).

  • This was something I wanted to see purely for the novelty.Luckily, it is literally just a godzilla head on top of a building, and we accidentally saw it in passing. Its good as a quick novelty thing t...  more »
  • The head of the Godzilla away from between the building and the building's look better. Go to the bottom of the building and in turn almost invisible. I think that spot not to be missed when you come to Kabuki-Cho.

  • We stayed at the Gracery Hotel where the head was placed atop. The hotel was nice and as long as you’re a guest at the hotel you can go out and watch. Every hour this head will make noise and perform a light show. The head opens in the morning and ends at 6:30pm.
  • A pleasant, accidental surprise walking around Shinjuku! Fantastic at night and a nice reminder of how easily Tokyo can be partly destroyed by a giant lizard.
  • Godzilla's head was an accidental surprise for me. I ended up walking through the street his head was located at. It's pretty neat how they have this set up. It's really hard to get a picture with the head in the photo without people getting in the way.
  • I was honestly surprised by how cool I thought it was. Its off course not worth going here for just the Godzilla head, but when you're in Shinjuku its a nice stop.
  • So cool to see Godzilla immortalized right in the heart of Shinjuku. Big spin out for fans of the big fella. What really puts a smile on the dial is when little kids spot him. Priceless.
