Karato Sea Market, Shimonoseki

3.9
#Must See
Feel the energy and smell the fresh aromas of Karato Sea Market, one of the largest fish markets in the region. The two-floor facility includes a large number of stalls selling freshly caught seafood, and the rush of activity makes for an arresting sight. Head up to the second floor to find the main eateries, selling sashimi and cooked dishes. To catch the market in full swing, head down early in the morning when traders and restaurant buyers arrive to buy large amounts of fish and seafood to be prepared across the city. A little after 7 am, the vendors will have a bit more time to answer your questions and chat about the market. • Sushi is not so spacious for discerning freshness or taste anything like it I do not know ... Fancy sushi heartily and ... I've got four pick to eat sushi, fun is ... The sushi is also good, but there were also the Roque or FRY ... The prices are good so the market is cheap. Eating is not something that is uncomfortable comments aside, but I did bad ... (Standing on the outside or on the second floor you can eat at the table ...) Market hours 9:30 minutes ... I went early in the morning until that time never didn't trade ...

  • Went to lunch on Sunday, coach bodies come in like, was packed with tourists. Did you eat too much, and too crowded is a funny thing, but I don't feel like.

  • One of the most famous fish market in Japan, located at Karato - almost the westernmost of Honshu: the largest main island of Japan. It has both wholesale and retail market of fresh seafood inside. Not only distributors but also fisherman are selling products; which is really fresh (even caught at the same day). Price is cheaper than the other famous market, Tsukiji, and quality is better (as far as I think). You can enjoy the most fresh seafood (sushi, sashimi, what else) in the morning, right after the market opens. It is still ok in the afternoon, but slightly different. Be careful on holidays, because what you get is leftover from previous working days.
  • The fish here are very fresh and price is very economic. It is the place for local Japanese and very interesting to eat food with standing (立吞).
  • It open at Friday to Sunday only. But not all the shops open on Friday. Recommend go to this market on Sat and Sun. Many choice of seafood, sashimi and sushi.
  • A very good place for tourist, you could buy dried fishes here and have a Fuko lunch
  • Nice place to have interesting experience. You can eat fresh sushi in weekend.
