Ouchijuku, Shimogo-machi

3.7
#1 of 8 in Things to do in Shimogo-machi
Step back into the Edo period during a venture around Ouchijuku, a historic post station now located within a larger town. Post stations were built to provide travelers transporting goods across the country with somewhere to stay and rest, and the squat wooden buildings have a pleasing aesthetic, nestled together among the mountainous landscape. Take the time to admire the thatched roofs of the well-preserved buildings, and pop in to see what they now contain, with many of the buildings now open to the public in the form of museums, cafes, souvenir shops, and restaurants. Ouchijuku is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Shimogo-machi Edition.

Streets was extant remains of the old building, but most shops, restaurants, did not feel natural at all. After than I had imagined, as shorter once came, 2 times I wish it was. It wasn't at least liveable destinations.

Aizu-Wakamatsu West Azuma mountain line would come to drop and was wondering where could that reproduce the post town, not reproduces the thatched buildings made tourist spot. Think heritage tourism development in rural areas is a good thing, but except for the exhibition remaining stores that sexy was. It was buzzing because it was attracting tourists in Kanto and Tohoku. It is because we have operated to keep.

Aizu-Wakamatsu from villages deep in the mountains for about an hour. It's saved the post town was forgotten. I thought so attractive as a photo spot to visit. Good evening parking was available, but top season, GW was prepared quite crowded. Thatched-roof houses were hits on both sides across the village's main street. Most folk art supplies food or verandah, visitors with business. And haunts the far turn, overlooking the town from Chinju no Mori, coming back to take pictures. During this time over 1 hour. Said the mini version of the shirakawago gassho-style building, where deep touch... no paved roads. One of the famous but regret I could not eat this green onion noodles, next visit is and wonder... what deep place, and other tourist destinations set and hard to...
