Shimoda Aquarium, Shimoda

3.8
#2 of 17 in Parks in Shimoda
Centered around a floating facility harboring a 600-ton tank, Shimoda Aquarium boasts energetic dolphin and sea lion shows. The dome makes up the central point of a barricade in the bay, creating a performance arena and living space for the resident dolphins of the aquarium. Standing on the floating causeway, you'll witness these creatures and their trainers pulling off tricks and stunts. Other activities include dolphin petting, feeding, dolphin trainer workshops for kids, and opportunities for boating around their paddock. Back inside the main building, see over 200 species collected from the Izu as they swim inside the enormous water tank. • Will suddenly become the change I went for the first time, but is quite dilapidated and the new fish at the surprising and fun. Doctor fish here are voracious, came flocking and hand mozomozo mozomozo. You want to cheer and watching the Dolphin the dolphin show is elegant, but the best (^ _ ^;). Featured ticket 2000 yen, but buy out Izu Shimoda station ticket at the station when you go to the Sea Aquarium and can be purchased at the discount 1700 Yen 300 yen at the tourist information counter in front of me.

  • Interaction with the dolphins. I'm honestly can see the creatures of the sea, is what I enjoy a dolphin show, a variety show, not inclining the profit principle is not. Is the facility you want keep it'll be forever. It is like to revisit.

  • One of my first visit 35 years ago and hasn't changed. Contents of the exhibits and shows is really old. New and renewal opening lots of large aquariums in other cities, the long, often meaning interest so far without any major renewal could be said to be. Conversely, only in thought, or where the appeal is. Many facilities can certainly, IL catching limited participation, and no, it's paid. Touching the bathynomus is, as you wish. Internet society now, probably users more good will. I think you'd better hit the new hands, if you survive. From the city, also the approach in the car, very difficult to understand.

  • The dolphins are in a relatively big ‘cage’ which is in fact a small closed-in bay. And the shows are really fun to watch.
  • Ok positive first: clean, friendly staff, beatiful scenery around, funny sea lion show. Why two stars? The compounds / aquariums are mostly far too small. For example, the situation of the giant sea turtles is absolutely heartbreaking. Therefore i cannot recommended it. To the owner: Please review the size of the compounds!!
  • Really good beach. The water is very clear. And I love the timing of going inside the cape by boat.
  • The shows were good and I like that one of the dolphin shows is from the bay, not in the aquarium. The turtle "lake" needs some help. The variety of things are very good.
  • Went on a windy day and my kids nearly got blown into the ocean! The floating pontoon walkways that connect the aquarium to the main building are a safety hazard. We did get to watch a herd of penguins waddle through a crowd of people so that kind of made up for the life threatening experience :) The entrance fee is too high for this place, but there really is not a whole lot else for kids to do in Shimoda besides the beach.
