Water Body Landmark
Observe the churning waters at Naruto Whirling Waves, where the Pacific meets the Inland Sea with intense consequences. View things from above on the suspension bridge spanning the strait, or get a little closer with a boat ride. In the whirlpools here, waters travel at speeds peaking at 20 km/h (12 mph), creating vortices up to 20 m (66 ft) in diameter. Consider paying a little more on the boat for much better views of the action from the top deck. • I went to see them at the end of December. I've heard they're larger in the spring or autumn, but in the winter they're rather small and I only caught a few eddies by the side of the boat.  more »
