At the temple itself, visitors give offerings, buy amulets and charms, and reflect on and write out their wishes. Walk through the treasure house to see belongings of the emperor and empress, and visit the museum annex next door, which hosts temporary exhibitions. Note that photography is not permitted within the temple’s halls. • Yoyogi Park and the Meiji Shrine do not disappoint! Great, quiet walk in the park to the Shrine, where you can cleanse your soul before entering the shrine.
  • Away from the hustle of the city this is a great destination if you want to relax. Very serene and wonderful walks particularly mid week to avoid the crowds.
  • I went with a foreign friend. Was under construction in front of the shrine hall of worship, okay. Wedding is pretty much done, foreign tourists were taking a lot of pictures. EMA my friend wanted to write and say things, I bought a wooden plaque, but Miko said amount in English. Embarrassing is living in neighboring prefectures, while I went for the first time, solemn, is quite good.

  • Well known shrine in the middle of Tokyo. The entrance is very impressing, it's like you walking in the forest when just across the street it's the very crowded shopping district. This place is quite famous for traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. We found at least 3 couple when we visit the shrine. Really worth a visit.
  • Very beautiful shrine. Very beautiful scenic place in Tokyo. My most favourite place in Tokyo for peace and quiet. Good for walking.
  • Very beautiful place almost magical, definitely one of my favourite places in Tokyo. I had chance to see a traditional wedding, it was gorgeous. One must remember that it is a place of cult and behave respectfully. There is a little bit of walk if you want to get there, but its definitely worth it.
  • Worth visiting if youre walking from shibuya/harajuku to shinjuku or if you only visit tokyo. If youre going elsewhere in japan (e.g. kyoto) then you can skip it.
  • On a lucky day, you can catch a glimpse of a sacred japanese wedding. Surrounded by large trees , this place is serene yet crowded with tourist.
