Cape Kamui, Shakotan-cho
(4.7/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Observe nature’s sculptures at their best from Cape Kamui a 100-200 m (328-656 ft) high coastal terrace spearheading into the ocean on Hokkaido’s Shakotan Peninsula. Strange vertical limestone formations springing from the azure sea reward hikers, after a 25-minute scenic walk on planks to reach the cape. The short, hilly trek through a maze of well-maintained trails, with many wooden observation decks, provides gorgeous scenery and excellent photo opportunities. You can also see the remnants of a World War II communication bunker tower en route. When you arrive, try dried scallops and other shellfish in the shop on the cape, which sits a 90-minute drive from Sapporo. A visit to Cape Kamui represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Shakotan-cho travel itinerary planner to plot your vacation.

  • I visited for the first time. I was able to see, but you should see the blue sea, normally sunny summer day to go 11-10-amazing views. Walking while watching the scenery there up and down quite so quickly that while arrived at the tip. Or will the round trip takes about 40 minutes.

  • Once a place of Nix's guide sent from heard. Walk along the promenade from the free car park, Cape in about five minutes. On the day so windy and had become restricted to the back of the Cape. But I was overwhelmed by this spectacular scenery seen from the observation deck can see far beyond the horizon of. Beside the parking lot and shops, Jaco had blue ice cream has become famous. Take a look at the on-site

  • We walk in the peninsula in the sea of Japan. It was a mysterious feel like it will go to God's way around not only the sea and the sky. This is the superb view. The moment I saw the "I happy! "And I was impressed. Would have been more beautiful beautiful blue of the sea and arrive during the day I wish I could. Definitely bright if you go soon! Very favorite place would ever come again. Cross the top of the ladder on the way the wind is blowing, so should avoid the skirt!
