Where to stay in Sendai

In the city center of Sendai, you'll find a good range of budget and luxury accommodations to suit a range of tastes. From standard high-rise hotels to traditional "ryokan" (guesthouses), they sit pretty close to the main train station, forming clusters around the main public parks, commercial developments, and temples. The surrounding landscape features a number of "onsen" (traditional Japanese spas) located in clusters around hot springs. Take a look close at Mount Okura and Kamakurayama for some of the most concentrated patches of spa retreats.

  • One of the best museums in Sendai. The permanent collection is interesting but the rotating exhibition gives something new to expect every time. Also it has great garden with cool scultures.
  • Cute sculpture garden and decent permanent collection. Didn't get a chance to see the special exhibit but many people were going there so perhaps it would be worth a visit next time.
  • I went here last week. This is nice place.
  • The sculpture area (both inside and outside the building) is well worth the entry fee. They show case the bronze work of a local artist who has impeccable skill in capturing the human form.
  • not that many people here, so it's good to watch and learn the art slowly and quietly. and don't forget to walk around outside the museum.
