Where to stay in Sendai

In the city center of Sendai, you'll find a good range of budget and luxury accommodations to suit a range of tastes. From standard high-rise hotels to traditional "ryokan" (guesthouses), they sit pretty close to the main train station, forming clusters around the main public parks, commercial developments, and temples. The surrounding landscape features a number of "onsen" (traditional Japanese spas) located in clusters around hot springs. Take a look close at Mount Okura and Kamakurayama for some of the most concentrated patches of spa retreats.

  • This is not a huge aquarium, but it feels like it is. The main feature (besides the dolphin show which features a human/dolphin swimming/jumping tandem routine) is a massive 2 story open ocean tank - ...  more »
  • Only down-side was the hands-on exhibits (like touch in the dolphins, penguins, and sea lions) they suggested if you don't understand Japanese, don't do it, for safety reasons, which makes sense, but ...  more »
  • My partner and I went whilst we were on a day trip to Sendai. It was a reasonably small aquarium but it had plenty to keep us entertained. The dolphin and sea lion show is a must see for sure. We also...  more »

  • Dullest aquarium I've ever been to. Even the exterior looked boring. I thought I was walking up to a factory plant. The tanks were really empty and animals didn't look happy or stimulated. Inconveniently located. About a 25 minute walk from the station if shuttles aren't running or available. Good points were it was clean and nice staff.
  • Nice aquarium for the place like Sendai. Recommend to visit if you have been through the whole Sendai city already.
  • I've never been to an aquarium where they try to convince you to eat and consume more marine life. As if Japan doesn't do enough harm already with their overconsumption of an already severely depleted marine life. Big middle finger to this aquarium's management!!!
  • There's not much thing to see here. The show is boring.
  • amazing aquarium with lots of attention to detail. it's relatively new so it's clean as well there's also a section with a digital aquarium. you get to color your own fish, scan/digitize it, and see it swimming on their wall! even the food court is quite delicious AND cheap! unfortunately, their dolphin show pool is quite small. perhaps they have a bigger tank elsewhere? they seemed a bit crowded
