Where to stay in Sendai

In the city center of Sendai, you'll find a good range of budget and luxury accommodations to suit a range of tastes. From standard high-rise hotels to traditional "ryokan" (guesthouses), they sit pretty close to the main train station, forming clusters around the main public parks, commercial developments, and temples. The surrounding landscape features a number of "onsen" (traditional Japanese spas) located in clusters around hot springs. Take a look close at Mount Okura and Kamakurayama for some of the most concentrated patches of spa retreats.

  • Wonderful and small museum. Doesn't require all day to finish all sections of the museum.
  • Interesting museum about the history of Sendai city. At the time of my visit they had an arts exhibition with works of Myamoto Musashi. Don't miss the lovely tea house to the left of the main entrance.
  • Great displays, some in English, about the history of Sendai and its founder feudal lord Date Masamune. Just the right size and located at the former third compound of the now gone castle. Use the path behind the museum to reach the castle, if you do not mind a steep hill and want to see more.
  • I like it I like The Museum. Visit Indonesia! Guys
