Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle), Sendai

3.5
Visit the historic site of Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle), an Edo-period structure destroyed in World War II. Demolished during the 1945 bombing of Sendai by the United States, only the ruins of moss-covered stone walls remain on site. Visit the castle museum to see a model of what the building used to look like, inspect a reconstructed guard tower, and admire relics from the castle’s past. From the hilltop on which it stands, the castle and its grounds offer panoramic views of Sendai. • Sendai The site is located in a higher place, so I walked a lot of road to reach, but the road is good to go uphill, you can choose to travel by the light bus. This place has a lot of statues, good days, you can see the scenery of Sendai, after reading it can go to the temple of worship.

  • Looping went on the buses. Equestrian statue of looks and got off the bus, walk a little. Square date warriors squad and offer hospitality. When taking photos "hitz", not "zunda's blast" and WRE. Sendai appeared better because the weather was good. You could see the goddess of mercy.

  • Lovely place, nice to learn about the Date family history, and the early developments of Sendai that became the foundation of the city today. I recommend taking the Loople bus as it is located atop a hill.
  • Great views of sendai city, many restaurants and good varieties souvenirs at the shop, good for light hiking or you can just ride the loople bus. There is also a small museum and a shrine.
  • The castle was destroyed over a century ago. Catch up Google-San!
  • It's so sad to see the remains only, yet, wonderful statues and views of Sendai city can be enjoyed. There is a local market with souvenir and food.
  • nice view on sendai but no castle only stones for basement

Where to stay in Sendai

In the city center of Sendai, you'll find a good range of budget and luxury accommodations to suit a range of tastes. From standard high-rise hotels to traditional "ryokan" (guesthouses), they sit pretty close to the main train station, forming clusters around the main public parks, commercial developments, and temples. The surrounding landscape features a number of "onsen" (traditional Japanese spas) located in clusters around hot springs. Take a look close at Mount Okura and Kamakurayama for some of the most concentrated patches of spa retreats.
