Landmark
A celebrated Sendai promenade lined with zelkova trees, Jozenji-dori Avenue provides many events and jazz festivals along its 700 m (2,296 ft) long stretch. Perfect for shopping and taking a stroll, the street serves as a symbol of the "City of Trees." Sit on the benches in a tunnel of trees and enjoy sculptures by famous artists. Pop into shops and restaurants along the way, then take a stroll through the small park of ginkgo trees at the end of the avenue. With any luck, you'll see musicians performing from small stages in the area. The avenue lies in Sendai downtown area, perpendicular to Kokubuncho Avenue, with 1,000 bars in 500 m (1,640 ft). • This is a nice place to visit for shopping. Also a good place for people watching as it is hotspot for locals as well as tourists. A lot of the local university students end up here as well.  more »
