  • I had a wonderful time here. Local high school volunteers gave my group a really interesting and informative tour of the manor. The manor itself is lovely and filled with fascinating artifacts. I highly recommend a visit!
  • nice view at the onsen
  • On the pictureque Bukeyashiki street (samurai houses) which gives Kakunodate the nickname "little kyoto". This is another beautiful museum you can walk through (in your socks!). There was a scene in "The Twilight Samurai" movie shot just outside this museum. Visit in Spring for Hanami, autumn for the autumn leaves, or winter for the snow scenes. Summer is too hot to step outdoors!
