Moerenuma Park, Sapporo
(4.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Stroll through the exquisitely designed and geometrically perfect grounds of Moerenuma Park. Converted from a waste treatment facility and designed by Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi, the park represents a monumental feat of urban design and a fusion of nature and art. Take part in a plethora of activities in any season, such as visiting the Moere Beach--a small pond opened during the summer--or even try skiing across the snow-covered grounds during the winter. Kids will be able to let loose on the park playgrounds, and couples can opt for a romantic stroll along the 150 m (500 ft) canal. You can hire a bike to explore all the park's attractions, such as the panoramic views from the peak of Mt. more, or the iconic glass pyramid. • Grand is a very beautiful park, but is poorly drained. When it's raining, muddy grass around, will be very difficult to walk. I think good, Puss in boots.

  • Last year the second Marsh. The park design not seen anywhere else, such as the fountain of the mountain and the sea. The last clean, so bring a tent this time and stayed for a long time.

  • This stunning park is a little bit out of the way, but well worth this visit. More of an art installation than just your averge park. On my trip it was a cloudy day, which actually made the visit quite pleasant as it was cool enough to comfortably traverse the park several times. The bike rentals were too cheap an opportunity to pass up, though be aware that if you're taller than your average Japanese person, you might struggle to find a bike that fits.
  • Giant park built on top of former garbage dump full of larger-than-life monuments designed by a renowned architect. Simply amazing. Human-made "mountains", Aztec-like pyramids, space-ship sculptures, synthetic beaches. This place epitomizes "nature tamed": a human-designed and conceptual interpretation of natural landscapes. Very cool playgrounds for children. By far, one of my favourite places in the city. Makes for awesome pictures.
  • It's hard to imagine a more bizarre location for such a spectacular park, but it's well worth the bus or taxi ride to get out here. The glass pyramid is the obvious highlight, but a couple of hours spent wandering around the whole park are definitely not wasted.
  • An incredible park with amazing architecture. Great for anyone, it has art galleries, a restaurant, a man-made beach and multiple playgrounds throughout.
  • You need to climb up that slope. The view is awesome. Pyramid building is unique. Looks like louvre from far.
