Maruyama Zoo, Sapporo
(3.7/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Stroll through the quaint Maruyama Zoo, with enclosures designed to help you get up close to more than 184 species in the park. Despite its relatively small size, you can see many animal favorites, such as bears, chimpanzees, wolves, and various big cat species at the zoo. Winter serves as the most spectacular time to visit, with thick layers of snow helping the snow leopards, penguins, and polar bears feel at home. Kids will have a ball at the petting zoos, with plenty of farm animals and even kangaroos to meet. • It is one of the 8/2016 new birth in the African zone and introducing state-of-the-art exhibits, Zoo. Show how to walk around on the head by a lion exhibit was novel. The Hippo pool water was muddy hippos in the water absolutely couldn't, anticlimactic. Active polar bears play in the pool was glued our eyes.

  • Was more than the various animals are exhibited. Animals came from the country's different climate is kept indoors. Not cold also help

  • The kids' zoo part is wonderful! Children and adults are able to get close to harmless animals like sheep, chickens, mini horses. It's a good place for family and dating couples.
  • Nice zoo. Nicely situated on the mountain side. Cheap. One year pass incredibly cheap. Fairly long walk uphill from the closest subway station.
  • The enclosures are just too small. Very sad looking animals all round. The facilities are great, but it's too small and I feel nothing but sadness when I visit here
  • My 1st Self-drive (F&E) tour. My 1st visit to Japan. Visited Maruyama Zoo after Maruyama Park and Hokkaido Shine. This is a small zoo. There aren’t many animals in this zoo.
  • Good for 2 hours visit. The animals enclosures look tiny though
