Hokkaidō-jingū, Sapporo
(4.3/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Take a relaxing walk through Maryama park to reach Hokkaidō-jingū, a Shinto shrine that features a scenic courtyard and cherry blossom garden. Founded in 1871, the main building of the shrine was unfortunately destroyed in a fire in 1974, but restored four years later. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the shrine grounds, always changing with the seasons. The cherry blossom bloom attracts the biggest crowds, while in winter, the whole area is covered in snow. With our international travel planner, Sapporo attractions like Hokkaidō-jingū can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Wanted to go from a 10-minute walk from Maruyama Park, so take a little detour and went. Very broadly, and adjacent to the Park, I felt that there is very good. 753 time, so many families, was buzzing. Hope and did not have a temple at scrawled that nokyo-sho. Feeling has become calm. • I love the place. Whenever you visit Hokkaido, you must visit this place so as to get a very Japan feel. We happened to witness a ceremony for getting away bad luck. It's so interesting.
  • It was great place to see Japanese culture. But it wasn't that big as I imagined. And they are selling Japanese plum wine and Sakura tea which they've made in shirine. I think it would be good for present.
  • Lovely place which is very quiet. Love the smell of the wood inside the temple which make you very peaceful
  • Beautiful and peaceful.. right next to the park and zoo..
  • The park is worth to visit. So peaceful. Crows are everywhere. Unfortunately, the shrine was closed during our visit on Saturday.
