Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku-no Mura), Sapporo

4.2
Walk through the open air museum of Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku-no Mura) to see a range of historical eras brought to life. Divided into four different sections--a town, a fishing village, a farming village, and a mountain village--the museum collects 60 different buildings from across the region to show the developments in architecture and lifestyle that have occurred since the mid-19th century. Take the horse-drawn trolley down the main street, stopping off to explore the old stone and wood buildings, decked out with artifacts, tools, and art related to a given period and placed in situ. Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku-no Mura) is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Sapporo Edition.

Relatively compact village of all sorts of buildings from all of hokkaido set up in one place. Easy to reach by (rental) car. But still at least 30-40 minutes from central sapporo. Interesting if you ...  more »

You can park in a horse-drawn carriage to go far at 250 yen per person. Use only one way. Home Suite home slowly while watching the exhibition of pioneering buildings or in. We experience old on stilts and square seesaws and swings for children. Spent a retro atmosphere, staff were very helpful. Grandchildren told them was a delight.

Well with tourism? Like the character called "spot where the light". Taken where many people say "good" and say "awesome" in the foreign eye. But so what? Also go select travel destination as truth struggle made to stretch their modest safe for future generations, can live as well as think as important. It's like the village lived in Okinawa, pioneered in the northernmost, Hokkaido "ex-Legionary (tonndennhei) trace and groups. I got to come here is beautiful, sea, Plains, ranches and inspirational soul from the couple.

A beautiful outdoor museum with all the old buildings of Hokkaido. This is a beautiful place to take photos. A horse carriage runs along the center of the road. Recommended to take a ride and enjoy the scenery. There is a children playground where you can play with tops, stilts, swings and more games. A free art and craft lesson is available to try out making your own toys. Transportation to this place is infrequent. remember to check the schedule.

Really wonderful place. Highly recommend to come. A little barrier to come is long distance from station to museum. Almost one bus per one hour. I walked up, it could be tired. But scenery is so nice and coming here is totally worth it.

I'm torn, it's a reconstituted village with buildings from very different periods of time. Some are better than other. I've seen better more authentic villages, but if you haven't, you may enjoy this one.
