Garden
One of the oldest sites of its kind in Japan, Botanic Garden Hokkaido University provides a home for over 4,000 species of plants. Opened in 1886, the garden suffered severe damage during the 2004 typhoon, but thanks to a quick restoration, rare plants continue to thrive here. See the oldest lilac in the city, and check out the garden's tropical greenhouse and two museums. • Botanical Garden is quite broad. They are interesting from the Botanical Garden of the University is of course, unlike typical Botanical Garden, plant breeding research so, Museum of Northern peoples and archives or miyabe kingo Memorial is also there. We met for the former professors from being retired in the Park is rude to say it was interesting, but almost daily curriculum of the Botanical Garden. In a strange way, to 鳴ki真似 friends with Crow and Raven come was proclaimed. Result is unfortunately the bird's mood was bad.

  • Went and had time before our flight back home. Close to the train station, it is useful. Size is just right for a walk. Loved the display of plants in Hokkaido. You can see materials of folklore.

  • Both the garden and the greenhouse closed and did not see it. Opening hours differ in winter. Accurate information is needed.
  • We visited the Botanic Gardens in Sapporo to waste some time just prior to leaving. But after visiting, we wonder why this wasn't more highly recommended to us. The gardens are a decent size and show off all the typical Hokkaido trees and shrubs marked with their various names and some explanations (in English). There are two suggested walking paths, each taking well under and hour to complete. The entrance fee may seem a little steep, but it's worth it for the excellent condition the park is kept in. If you want to save the entrance fee though, the Hokkaido university grounds north of this location may offer a lesser experience for free.
  • If you calme to Hokkaido for the nature; this is your place. It definitely worth it. Great beautiful flowers, trees and several different environments. Hikers would love it.
  • Free for people with an association to Hokudai. If not, it is around 300 yen. An botanical garden with a taxidermy museum.
  • Most area is closed during winter.
