#8 of 79 in Parks in Kyoto
Take a tour of Shugakuin Imperial Villa, a set of three villas and associated gardens owned by the imperial family. Built between 1655 and 1659 by Emperor Gomizuno, the complex features three main buildings, all showcasing different aspects of traditional Japanese imperial architecture, including dark wood facades, sliding doors, elevated tatami mats, and painted wall panels. The sprawling park that surrounds boasts plentiful natural sights: waterfalls, woods, and ponds, as well as enclosed areas made into fine examples of traditional Japanese gardens. Though entry to the buildings is not allowed, many remain open so visitors can see inside as part of the tour. • It is a hole in the hole in Kyoto. Because it is under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Household Agency, it is necessary to apply from the HP in advance, but the admission fee is free. By all means, I would like you to bring overseas customers. Overseas palaces and palaces are very gorgeous, but they are not here. However, I feel the essence of Japanese beauty in the magnificent scenery, ponds, waterfalls, simple but quaint wooden buildings that have taken into the landscape, such as mountains, rice fields and fields in the distance. Foreign people can't imagine that there are a lot of worm-eaten holes in Joko's imperial palace w

  • I visited kyoto Imperial Palace and Katsura Imperial Palace, but it was exceptionally fun here. Anyway, the vast grounds, and the magnificent scenery. There was a throat, too, and it was able to be done. The visit time was about 80-90 minutes, but it passed quickly. At 11:00 a.m., the reception desk will be held on a first-come, first-served basis (up to 80 people), but it will be one of the following visits from 13:00 or 15:00. There are also around the area, such as The Shojuin and Akayama Zen-in, and the Kasuyayama Fudo and Shisendo, if you stretch your legs a little, so it is recommended from Tsuji Rikyu in these aspects.

  • Before I knew it, I was able to apply on the Internet. Everyone's address and age are required. There seems to be a minute on the day, but I think that it is sad if it goes to there and it does not enter. At the first window, the representative showed the driver's license, and accepted it, and there was a shop and a locker in the hut? to wait. There is also a limited edition of Shugakuin Rikyu in the shop. I will visit with the commentator for about 90 minutes. It seems to be maintained together with the surrounding people so as not to destroy the scenery of the surrounding fields. Because it walks considerably, athletic shoes are recommended.

  • Every detail in this Imperial garden was so perfect that I felt some dizziness. Too much, isn’t it? Every corner, even single tiny stone, and glass and moth seemed to be calculated. All these efforts make me feel mixedly the laborious work of labors. Anyway, sturdiness of Imperial properties I saw, even though the builder insisted to design the garden humbly.
  • A large Japanese Loyal Family's summer palace complex with typical but well-arranged landscape and gardens.
  • This place is beautiful! The audio tour is useful, but very soft. I recommend covering you other ear if you can't hear over the tour guide. The place take a while to get from Kyoto Station but it's worth the visit.
  • Get your passports ready because they are required for entry. We took a chance on showing up without a reservation and there were 2 left - lucky. Beautiful tour and visit. There is an English guided tour device that you can listen to.
  • I booked my tour the day beforehand at the office of the Imperial Household Agency. It all went very smoothly. The Shugakuin Imperial Villa is a bit far from downtown Kyoto, but well worth the trip. The villa’s and gardens itself are amazing. The view that the site grants over the city itself is stunning. Walking through this place gave me a wonderful insight into the luxuries of old Japanese nobility and as such is a great cultural experience.
