  • An additional 500 yen is included to enter the main hall, but I was surprised to enter. The Buddha statue at the angle has a hidden face, and there is only a photograph next to it. I feel like I pay 500 yen just to see the photos, and I can't see the face of the Buddha statue. There is also a maki-e, but only three rooms. It's not worth entering at all.

  • It was a very big temple. Around the precincts, there were a lot of stone statues that seemed to be Luhan, creating a unique and mysterious atmosphere. It feels somewhat Chinese. The autumn leaves are also beautiful, and it is like Kyoto Arashiyama.

  • It's such a beautiful temple. I think the quiet atmosphere is the best. I didn't have a lot of people, but I felt better.

  • After many visits to Kyoto, this was my first time at this temple. As it turns out, it is quite possibly one of my favourite temples in Kyoto. The garden was amazing with colours ranging from green to yellow to orange to deep reds. A large part is also covered in beautiful moss giving the grounds a magical feel to them. All of the paths are meticulously kept and they wind throughout the garden in an easy to follow route. I highly recommend this garden.
  • Kyoto is full of big temple, this one is clearly less impressive but so peaceful. Wonderful garden to wander and think. Finally, my favourite temple in Kyoto for me.
  • The revolt (1467-77) in the Ounin begins with the Hougon-in establishment in 1461 after a while and Hougon-in, too, is burned down. It was reconstructed by Amamasa annual (1573-85) Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the Edo period was kept until Bakumatsu by the protection of Tokugawa government. It was in the precincts of Kougen-ji of sub-temple of Tenryu-ji from 1972, but it moves to the present location in 2002 and it is revived. The present place was the old place of Myochi-in of sub-temple of Tenryu-ji and since the recent times, it became a personal villa. Therefore, it is Shishiku of Hougon-in. garden is written down with "the Myochi-in Tenryu-ji sub-temple Tenryu-ji sub-temple Myochi-in rinsen Sakugen Osho conduct", being Former Myochi-in Garden and being carried on "Miyako Rinsen meisho-zue" which was published in 1799. The megalith to make it think that the written turned lion is "Shishi Rock" is put at the center of the screen. Also, Mt. Arashiyama and Sakugen Osho kaizan-do of the distant view, too, are pictured except the garden in this Zue. It seems to be the style which resembles the garden of immediately appearing Kukai and triad stones on cloud, too, when the garden which spreads in front of this Kaizan-do enters to Hougon-in at present. There seems to have been Kaizan-do in the west side at the precincts from the physical relationship of Shishi Rock and Mt. Arashiyama. After that, the arrangement of the building changes fairly when changed to villa and a new nave is reared in 2008.
  • A famous temple with a well-managed garden surrounded.
  • A lovely garden in Arashiyama. You can walk through and admire the plants and flowers. It Is a very historical place to visit
