4.2
Tanzan Shrine , also known as the Danzan Shrine, the and the, is a Shinto shrine in Sakurai, Nara Prefecture, Japan.HistoryThe shrine traces its origin to a Tendai temple built in the Asuka period (538 - 710) called Tōnomine-ji, built by the monk Jo'e (643 - 666). Jo'e was the oldest son of Fujiwara no Kamatari (614 - 669), founder of the Fujiwara clan. Jo'e located the temple on Tōnomine, a peak of on the southern side of Mount Goharetsu (619m). Jo'e moved the remains of Kamatari to a 13-story pagoda on the site. The emperors Daigo (884 - 930) and Go-Hanazono (1419 - 1471) attached special reverence to the temple, and bestowed it with various honorifics.Under shinbutsu-shūgō, a system of syncretism of Buddhism and kami worship, the site was both a Shinto shrine and a Buddhist temple. The Tanzan Shrine and Tōnomine-ji coexisted on the same site. Tōnomine-ji had two subtemples located within its precincts, and. The shrine received significant financial support from the Tokugawa bakufu during the Edo period (1603 - 1868).

Festival) in morning cited priest chants. Also that season, early in the morning and was walking slowly and quietly. I now want to go to the high season ✨

  • Is a shrine to the taika reform, famous Fujiwara no Kamatari was. Main hall decoration painted in richly-colored flowers and birds, it was very luxurious. It was decorated with the reproduction of the picture scroll depicting the taika reform, but cold. 13-storied pagoda is very rare. You could see the statue of Kamatari.

  • Most beautiful autumn colours ever. A wonderful place.
  • Beautiful temple up in the hilly forests. Great view and serene calming grounds. A warrior monk shrine as well.
  • Nice view. Many parking lots
  • Share your experiences with shrine, veiled in the taika reform and deep history as a primary deity, for Fujiwara no Kamatari. Shrine has a large parking lot, the car is useful. Unfortunately turned and read and Fujiwara no Kamatari ancestors last name table contains too many of Japan's last name, so what I conclude is not possible. Atop the grave of Fujiwara no Kamatari, Prince nacadai and Kamatari was Soga Iruka overthrow trysts in the Middle, and trails to the top of his ruptured from the shrine Office place and great views of Matcha. Like the history is here.
