Get close to some magnificent creatures at Nagasaki Bio Park, a zoo specializing in hands-on experiences with the animals. You'll have the opportunity to hand-feed and pet some distinctly unusual creatures, from monkeys and kangaroos to the semi-aquatic, giant relative of the guinea pig, the capybara. As well as this, explore the flower dome, inhabited by colorful butterflies and vibrant flowers, and the "insectarium," filled with rare bugs from around the world. Be sure to bring 100 yen pieces to buy food to feed the animals with from onsite vending machines. • Before seeing the lights of Huis ten Bosch in Nagasaki bio Park! Fun Zoo commune with animals so I went forward. Really come aboard shoulder lemurs, Capybaras and wrestle in or close to Giraffe's face, it was a fun experience.

  • ○ touch I've experienced in animal dog, Bondo, Kangaroo, animal backflip thing about monkeys (if you dare) ○ close and ostriches (I forgot the name, but there were a lot more. ) You can reach this other really close compared to other zoos. Hill had in the sense of walking park also is so much fun. Small children that animals chatter may be touching or talking big, crying child. Was supposed to inspire kids. I did two adults, adults like me enjoy enough!

  • Basically, many grazing animals can interact directly. Especially the capybara was greatly to children.

  • My husband and I took our 8 and 10 year old boys. Not only did the boys have a blast, so did my husband and I. This is one of the few places during our stay in Japan that my 10 year old was NOT constantly saying "I'm bored." He loved it! Be aware that there are 20 different kinds of animals you can actually feed, and each different kind of food costs ¥100 so take a lot of extra ¥100 coins.
  • The only zoo I have come across in Japan which can hold a candle to Western zoos. The animals have room to move and have personalities. There are chances to interact and feed the animals, bring lots of 100Y coins. I am not sure how the zoo regulates the food the animals get as they seem to get most of their food from visitors, and Japanese people often feed inappropriate food. Love the capybaras and their special onsen and wood fired stove in winter!
  • Great place! Little pricey at ¥2000 for the zoo and petting zoo- but OH SO WORTH IT. We can on a typhooning day and the animals were still out and we were able to see most animals. There's tons of fun ways to feed the animals- we spent around ¥1000 on food for animals from the Gatcha machines stationed around. The squirrel monkeys were intense and pooped on us and stole things from our pockets- so be warned. Overall we easily spent 5 hours there, but you could walk the park no problem in 2-3 hours. Not big, but plenty to see. Delicious snacks, cook insect room, capybaras were adorable, and the petting zoo was clean and nice. Dogs, cats, rabbits, parrots, owls, Guinnea pigs, chinchilla, degu, mice, so nice! Great for kids, plenty to see and do. Lots of chairs everything for the elderly, though not the friendliest terrain. There was at least one nursing room, and stroller parking was available where needed. Great park. Children were only ¥1100 I think.
  • Truly the best zoo in the world, in my opinion. The capybaras are fabulous and have amazing personalities; I could hang out with them all day. Taking the Haus Ten Bosch train+shuttle from Fukuoka works well, and taking the city bus from Nagasaki central train station works just fine too (takes a while but it's direct and scenic).
  • Excellent. Bring at least 10 ¥100 coins to feed animals.
