Oze National Park, Japan

4.6
#178 of 2,778 in Nature in Japan
Enjoy excellent hikes across an open green space spreading over four prefectures at Oze National Park, a 372 sq km (143 sq mi) park some 150 km (93 mi) north of Tokyo. Well-maintained trails, spectacular waterfalls, and a huge pond stand out as the highlights of this popular hiking destination. Walk on planks across vast Ozegahara marshes, the most visited part of the park, which sit around 1,400 m (4,593 ft) above sea level. Observe skunk cabbage, yellow lily, red weeds, and colored grass as you walk. In order to preserve the nature, you will walk on logs and planks most of the time. You can stay overnight in the park's small hotel. To visit Oze National Park and other attractions in Japan, use our Japan online day trip planner .

  • We made a round trip from Hatoma Pass to Ozenuma (including Sanjo Falls) in two days per night. The area around Ozegahara was monotonous, but the route to Sanjo Falls was able to be enjoyed on a full-fledged mountain path. Nevertheless, eight percent of the people who pass each other were middle-aged group guests. I rarely met generations my age or younger. The sidewalks, mountain huts and toilets are well maintained, so you can make comfortable trekking and climbing. It was a place i think was a waste of time.

  • It is the flower and mizubasho which represents Oze, but unfortunately june of the rainy season is the season of mizubasho. Before the rainy season, at the beginning of June, we went around the nose and cow neck branch of the mountain from Hatashi Pass for a day trip. From Hatashi Pass to the entrance of Ozegahara and the nose of the mountain, there is a steep downhill. In early June, snow was still there, and it was enough to block the promenade in some places. From the vicinity of the nose of the mountain to the beef neck branch, Ozegahara was able to enjoy a cute sight with a lot of mizubasho blooming around the promenade.

  • Were in the Ozegahara walk on the first day and the next day, climb Mt. shibutsu plan the next day's weather forecast was not good for climbing Mt. shibutsu hurriedly changed on the first day. In addition, beginning time 9:00 because it was near to the piston from the pass was. Could take a pass, mountain, Mt. shibutsu nose course down the mountain's nose once, if you have spare time, but given time and energy to get stops. Near the top of Mt. shibutsu was leaves nicely. In addition, prospects could Ozegahara of grass leaves. Day after day in the rain plan changes are correct.

  • Oze National Park, is an area consisting of open greenland in Fukushima, Tochigi, Gunma and Niigata Prefectures in Japan. The park is 372 km² in area and is the 29th national park in Japan. Opened on 30 August 2007, the park's area includes the marshes (Ozegahara) and the mountains in the Oze area, formerly part of the Nikkō National Park, and other nearby areas including the Aizu-Komagatake and Tashiroyama mountains. The park was the first new national park to open in 20 years, since the designation of Hokkaidō's Kushiro wetlands as a national park in 1987. It was an part of Nikko National Park a time ago. The establishment of Nikkō National Park dates to the early 20th century. The Diet of Japan designated Nikkō an imperial park in 1911. The National Parks Law was passed in 1931, and Nikkō National Park was established in 1934. The park was expanded throughout the 20th century. Oze National Park was once part of Nikkō National Park, but became a separate national park in 2007.

  • Amazing hike through the natural Moors in Oze.
  • Amazing place, the trees, the water, the fresh air, the lovely animals, and the amazing stars. I went there after a rainy day, the whole national park is like being refreshed. But we failed to get to the top of the highest mountain because the road is way too muddy.
