Kitaichi Glass 3gokan, Otaru

3.9
#1 of 14 in Historic Sites in Otaru
Peruse intricate glassware gifts and souvenirs at Kitaichi Glass 3gokan. Selling finely crafted pieces, the store represents the flagship of numerous locations. Take in traditional homewares and ornaments, along with more Western-inspired products. Afterwards, unwind in the onsite cafe, where 167 glass lamps create a unique and relaxing atmosphere. Be sure to pop over the road to view the workshop, where you can observe the artisans plying their craft. Plan my trip to Otaru with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

  • During the day on weekdays, use the cafe. Made to store the converted warehouse of the Taisho era kitaichi glass lantern light has been lit, the faint smell of oil. I thought it was very cafes in dimly lit store and during the day does not seem so was just doing the live piano music. Do not bother with these great spaces, while meals and drinks are self-service.

  • There are many different kinds of products in the Museum of North one nitrate, which are expensive and adorable and really difficult to buy. I bought chopsticks rack and nail file, too cute, too beautiful, do not spend.

  • His Cafe is not big, but comfortable to rest after walking away looking at the sights. The place looks romantic because of the remang2 light, chandelier (chandelier), and lanterns that are on the table to talk. The Favorites menu in this place is hot chocolate and ice cream.

  • Great pitstop to pick up your sake before heading up to Niseko. Good selection of sake mainly from Hokkaido breweries. There are typically several sakes that they have available for tasting. They also have some Hokkaido wines and shochu available as well. Additionally, there are clearance glass products and glass products with minor defects on sale here. Remember to get tax refund.
  • I have been there probably 3 times. This time I don't quite like it as it smells not so good. But the atmosphere is good.
  • Nice glass art.
  • Sake sampling, nice
  • Beautiful glass art

Where to stay in Otaru

Historic little Otaru brings in significant numbers of visitors every year, with its scenic old canals and relaxed bayside charm. Take a peek at the converted warehouses in the canal district for some of the most stylish accommodations in town, with boutique hotels decorated with a keen eye for detail. Standard and luxury hotels line the newer commercial streets around town, while well-kept, traditional (or traditional-looking) "ryokan" (guesthouses) sit on the older commercial thoroughfares. Budget hostels can be found throughout, offering private and shared rooms.
