Tsuyunoten Shrine, Osaka

(3.6/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
A site of worship and tragedy, Tsuyunoten Shrine offers a welcome respite from the busy city streets. Surrounded by modern buildings, the site has been in use since at least the sixth century, and is believed to have the power to give success in business, provide traffic safety, and help stabilize relationships, among other things. The shrine was also the site of a shocking double suicide in 1703. The doomed lovers' tale was made famous with a puppet play written by Monzaemon Chikamatsu, and you can now view a memorial tower dedicated to them, which is popular with couples. It's also worth looking out for a flea market held here every first and third Friday of the month. • The shrine at the southern end of the Hankyu Higashi-Dori shopping street. Enjoy the quiet atmosphere of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding. Pour into the eating and drinking streets spread to the East, changing the mood of a lot of good.

  • The love suicides at Sonezaki, in Osaka over a period of a lot of people know. People actually come to this shrine is surprisingly not many perhaps. I also been Osaka residents age. I think that shrine, this land's many bars. Have a unique atmosphere. Morning and prayed, but foreigners have a lot, I was surprised.

  • This shrine located in between buildings and go south to Higashi-Umeda subway station No.6 exit, turn left. Good point bars at the great shrine, because a major place is Umeda. Once this woman elope with men, the heart that seems to be one of the origins of the name.

  • A relatively small shrine in the middle of the city. Always nice to see how well maintained they are in Japan. If you go to Kyoto before, this shrine would be pretty underwhelming. However, there is the convenience factor if you just feel like visiting a shrine.
  • A cute little shrine dedicated to love and romance. Three main buildings with many cherry blossoms planted around the structures - perfect for a spring visit. A breathe of fresh air in a crowded city. Bonus: the fortunes dispensed for 100yen include English descriptions!
  • Small but famous, a cow sculpture for success in studies
  • A place where You can find silent just beetwen high building
  • It's so cool!
