Tsuyunoten Shrine, Osaka

3.6
A site of worship and tragedy, Tsuyunoten Shrine offers a welcome respite from the busy city streets. Surrounded by modern buildings, the site has been in use since at least the sixth century, and is believed to have the power to give success in business, provide traffic safety, and help stabilize relationships, among other things. The shrine was also the site of a shocking double suicide in 1703. The doomed lovers' tale was made famous with a puppet play written by Monzaemon Chikamatsu, and you can now view a memorial tower dedicated to them, which is popular with couples. It's also worth looking out for a flea market held here every first and third Friday of the month. • Ohatsu Tenjin "name is widely known. Open-air shrine's official name (soup of Shrine) that is. It is famous for its suicide incident happened in fact this shrine in 0/1703 subject matter, wrote to Ningyo-Joruri "love suicides at Sonezaki" Chikamatsu Monzaemon. The heroine's name called first Tenjin, named after "first". Didn't notice at all when I visited a long time ago, but within the various attractions. I was surprised, it traces were driven during the war pistol. Is famous because of the marriage, but was surprised to look glamorous again. (They were, such as lover's sanctuary)

  • Because it was close to work here had many times (s) visited break than that. Ambient is a place particularly crowded in the metropolis and Osaka Umeda area, and surrounded the building. Location of the love suicides at Sonezaki. Stage of the heart is the legendary "matchmaking" power spots and hard to understand.......

  • Gaping spaces of shrines in the city; Things like hit a pistol bullet in the blocks of stone, while half drunk "strafing marks" is clearer. After many years living the reality of war.

  • Good shrine flea market once a month. I think it's maybe 3rd Thursday of the month?. Double check ✔ that. I bought a few baby bonsai here and no complaints
  • Came here on Christmas night alone. lot's of lovers going in. Let's say it's a cool shrine in the middle of city.
  • A flea market and the main shrine guarding osaka
  • Small but good to visit if you're in the area
  • A relatively small shrine in the middle of the city. Always nice to see how well maintained they are in Japan. If you go to Kyoto before, this shrine would be pretty underwhelming. However, there is the convenience factor if you just feel like visiting a shrine.

Where to stay in Osaka

The majority of Osaka's moderate and expensive accommodations concentrate in the districts of Umeda, Kyobashi, Namba, and Shin-Osaka. Base your stay in or near Minami neighborhood for proximity to a wide selection of shopping and dining options. For quick access to long-distance transportation to other cities and areas, look for hotels in Kita district. Many backpackers prefer the budget options in the Tennoji area, where the quality of rooms and prices vary wildly--call or check websites of specific establishments before you make reservations.
