Tennoji Zoo, Osaka
Categories: Playgrounds, Zoos & Aquariums, Wildlife Areas, Fun & Games, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Only the third zoo to open in Japan, Tennoji Zoo shelters 230 species spread across an expanse of 11 hectares (27 acres). Established in 1915, the zoo and the adjacent "Savannah Zones" create an illusion that both carnivorous and herbivorous animals share the same enclosure. The animal park also includes a reptile house, hippo and rhino house, and an exhibit called the "Asian Tropical Rainforest Zone." Put Tennoji Zoo and other Osaka attractions into our Osaka vacation generator, and watch your holiday take shape.

I loveee this zoo!! I have never been to such a nice city zoo. I want to go again.. I love the bear and elephant.
Free entrance for Osaka Amazing Pass holders. Close distance with animals. Good place for child. However, the living condition of the animals are not so good.

Underrated attraction in Osaka. Entrance fee was only 500 yen (one of the cheapest compared to most others in Osaka) and there are huge collection of animals. Animals were also placed very close to the public and we could get to see the animals up close (even tigers, lions and giraffe)
Not a very happy facility, a lot of the animals looked under fed and small, and some sick. The polar bear had no ice, just concrete painted white. Wouldn't recommend unless you are really into zoo's and animals. Go to Singapore instead.

Nice to spend a day walking around here, but I'm a bit worried about the zoo conditions for the animals. Many cages are small (especially for some of the birds), though they seem to be cleaned regularly. Large variety of animals divided by their habitats (forest, Sahara), and then they just start classifying animals by type (cat, bird). Apparently there's a curse at this zoo. If you go here with your loved one, the relationship will have problems. Definitely go before it's official to avoid any problems 😛
Absolutely disgusting and horrendous conditions for these poor animals. Close this zoo down! Shameful.
