Tempozan Ferris Wheel, Osaka
Categories: Lookouts, Tourist Spots
More than an average carnival ride, Tempozan Ferris Wheel offers unparalleled views of Osaka Bay and beyond. The short ride allows you to see Mount Ikoma in the east and Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in the west. Located next to the world-famous Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, this attraction was built in 1997 and stands at 112.5 m (369 ft) high. As a unique feature, the Ferris wheel features colorful lights that indicate the weather forecast, such as blue for rain, orange for sun, and green for clouds. This is a good place to have an aerial view of the surrounding. Travel cabins are smaller with compared to same in London (if you had been), so more privacy and less disturbance from others.
This is a ferris wheel, so you pretty know what to expect. One thing that's unique about this ferris wheel is that it's HUGE. You can see this thing from a mile away and use it as a landmark. When you actually arrive here and look up at the ferris wheel, the thing is humongous. When you board the ferris wheel, the speed of the rotation is slow so you get ample time to enjoy the view. At the peak, you get a nice overlook over the ocean and the city. I believe this is claimed to be the largest ferris wheel in the world, but I did not follow up on the authenticity of the claim; it was definitely huge though.
I went there at a rainy night. Although there is just 4 groups of people queuing, it require to wait 40 min for the glass floor car. I cannot wait, so I pick the classic one. The duration is short, but the view is good. It could be romantic.

Though the ferris wheel is high, however, the view is not that good. It's a good place to stay if you have got the Osaka Amazing Pass. If you have the pass, you don't have to pay to enjoy the ride. Otherwise, I don't recommend you to pay for the ride.
Had a fun ride on here, wasn't a line at all when we went, so it was nice. Great view of the city and surrounding area too. Would recommend.
Booth glass was a little dirty and scratched; not that much time was spent on the Ferris wheel; the attendant was rude or not personable (ignored my jokes to him); there was an advertisement included in the booth. Pleasant view, though, and a bit of fun if you go with good company.
