Sumiyoshi Taisha, Osaka

(4.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
For ages, the three enshrined Shinto gods at Sumiyoshi Taisha have protected the nation, people on sea voyages, and patrons of waka poetry. This grand Sumiyoshi-zukuri style shrine serves as headquarters of some 2,000 Sumiyoshi shrines scattered throughout Japan. Because of the three gods' purposes, the shrine is a pilgrimage site for students of military arts, mariners, and poets. Observe how locals swarm the place, especially during New Year's Eve, to make wishes and pray for prosperity. Examine the shrine's symbol--the vermilion-colored Taiko-bashi bridge--and simply relax in the serene ambience. • Every couple of annual shrine of Shrine visits by two people, Japan's most likely, at the southern end of the Osaka City usually is quiet. Arched bridge is famous (I don't know the official name is commonly known as), semicircular bridge in steep slopes, easy to fall, women in kimonos. Is about to visit the section, but aside from go to the shrine. Good quiet shrine during the day during the week or even let me come now, well maybe?

  • In mid-January has been at Sumiyoshi Taisha. New year's day but not so much less crowded, didn't have the foreign people more were coming. From tennoji to go by tram hankai train line that takes little time may be quaint. Going through the famous arched bridge crossing gate to see book Sannomiya and book ninomiya. Visit book ninomiya, the first book of the last Palace was made a little shrine column. Sumiyoshi's power spots and even famous, mainly include Boulder かる石 or "five forces". There seems a huge Kitty EMA until about mid-February.

  • As the power spot in Osaka Sumiyoshi-Taisha Shrine famous went to the family. Big Red floating in the pond in front of the Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine are arched bridge is very nice. Located within the main karu石 are three stones from one to choose lift the light and feel heavy and feel the soothing story like this one. There are many stalls are so crowded with so many people, got some power.

  • Very nice Taisha. Have been coming here for years. New Years eve is very busy but a must if you're in the area.
  • Enjoyed the river and bridge peaceful surroundings and shrines of blessing and Shinto. Many japanese wedding and ceremonies will be held here. A Must-visit place when you're in Osaka.
  • Another one of the famous shrines in Osaka. A definite visit if you planned to see shrines during your visit. You also get to cross the Sorihashi bridge leading to the entrance.
  • Tangible darkness like an abyss.
  • Wonderful historic site, still in use today by locals. Charming location and grounds. The surrounding area is nice to stroll around, too.
