Shinsekai, Osaka

3.6
#11 of 247 in Sightseeing in Osaka
Landmark Tourist Spot
An Osaka neighborhood inspired by Paris and New York , Shinsekai offers visitors a riotous array of colorful signs, tiny eateries, and bustling crowds packing the narrow streets. You can wander the busy lanes and see how the working-class Japan lives, or grab some traditional barbecued meats and vegetables at one of the multitude of inexpensive diners along the way. Look towards the center of the district and you'll see the 103 m (338 ft) tall Tsuten-kaku--a distinctive steel tower originally constructed in 1912. Make Shinsekai a centerpiece of your Osaka vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Osaka itinerary maker.

  • All has become a tourist destination, but people living on the street is pretty generous. To go out normally tourist destinations because it is nothing wrong.

  • Hand over fist at the corner bucketer Osaka's position really is. Kushikatsu is cheap and tasty. Once was a worker-friendly hotels to backpackers and renewed for cheap travel, great. Bath near the Onsen from around the world are recommended.

  • Shinsekai is sold as a retro district / US. I found tourist restaurants, street or half of the stores are closed and an atmosphere that is 1000 leagues from what Osaka knows offer us. If you are looking for the heart of Osaka, run. If you want to discover another facet you can try. Personally I will not return.

  • On other sites but that was, so I went. At 8 300 yen pretty bloated belly. Simmering in the soft top is hot, so using chopsticks is good. 10/15/2016 went to jump a long time. Prices rose from 300 yen to 350 yen. But the takoyaki is thick and heavy and is piping hot and delicious. 3/2014 first visit 10/2016 15, re-visited

  • Janjan alley, is a new world drop in at work came close to the takoyaki shop route very large Sakashita town atmosphere is felt, it is one of my favorite places. You can instead of waiting for it always at the always crowded with large numbers of tourists, but the staff of good baking technique. Plump Octopus's eight 350 yen price, oral burns and soft on the outside, the torotoro intense heat, dash is inevitable, so beware! And a quick eat space on store shelves, and then raised the drink Rafah will be saying. Is served with toothpick to disposable chopsticks so easy to eat ball torotoro Octopus, is a thriving shop's attention around here?! If the Osaka takoyaki eat you'll also ^ ^

Where to stay in Osaka

The majority of Osaka's moderate and expensive accommodations concentrate in the districts of Umeda, Kyobashi, Namba, and Shin-Osaka. Base your stay in or near Minami neighborhood for proximity to a wide selection of shopping and dining options. For quick access to long-distance transportation to other cities and areas, look for hotels in Kita district. Many backpackers prefer the budget options in the Tennoji area, where the quality of rooms and prices vary wildly--call or check websites of specific establishments before you make reservations.
